trade and, consequently, look forward to each trading day. Entering into the trading arena to a trader is like putting on the glimmering suit of lights to a bullfighter. Trading gives the thrill and acceleration of taking off in a Lear jet which is so powerful that it rises straight up like a rocket. Traders love anything to do with the market. They search endlessly for leading indicator relationships that will predict market trends. They never tire of doing research and hearing about the market.
DAET traders would rather trade than stay home. In fact, most traders hate a three-day weekend. I read somewhere that General Colin Powell, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, used to have a sign on his desk that proclaimed, "Thank God for Mondays." This burning desire to be in the office is the same mentality that draws traders to the market. If you don't enjoy what you are doing, you should most assuredly find another career. If you are dedicating seven hours a day each day of your life to a job that you really don't like, life can be a terrible waste. Your sense of boredom and general despair will flow over and corrupt your private life, which is too precious not to enjoy. I don't want to sound like a beer commercial, but you should grab all the gusto you can.
The whole point is that watching real traders in action is like watching a shark feeding frenzy. Traders are so caught up in trading that the day sails by effortlessly. Even when the trading day is over, real traders want to stay and discuss the market. They want to tell and retell old trading stories like Greek myths. Even professional athletes, from time to time, want to take time off from their training schedule, but traders cannot wait for the market to open.
